True wealth is a life well lived, and accompanied by the grace of as much freedom as can be had in your local corner of the universe. You earn peace of mind with a hard day's work, and self esteem is measured in accomplishments. Resilience is a nimble mind and a strong back put to good use. There lies happiness, not in a bank balance. Would that everyone could own a cattle ranch, even of meager size; but understand that there are long days of labor that accompany that lifestyle; and all to the better. I want to associate with people that do rather those that say. Do not fret the collapse, for it is the cure for what ails us. Only a return hardship and a gauntlet of challenges can restore the soul.
I really enjoyed this for it's back to basics appeal. Also, makes me want to visit Uruguay. Now I'm wondering about India, aren't cows sacred in that country?
Uh-oh, living in AZ where the ground is sand, I unfortunately have no garden. Seriously, I have thought about this: what do I do if it comes to starvation? Eating meat might be impossible for me after 20 years as veggie (philosophical reasons). But I do not Proselytize; when it comes to diet, follow what feels right to you.
AZ - one of the most diversified states, largest ponderosa pine and saguarro cactus forests, a West coast of fresh water, a green belt in the middle of the state, streams with panable gold; copper and uranium mines, farming and citrus orchards, hunting and fishing ....

Wendy, seems the trip was good for you. Your posts are always compelling reading, but this one had a special sizzle. : ) [From a vegetarian]
:-) I actually thought about that...lol. But when you're starving? Maybe you have a big garden!! Glad you liked it.
PS, I do have the precious metals part of the equation covered. : )
